New College Website: Research Colleges Like a Pro

Today I want to share with you a great new web site that can help you research colleges:  College Insight.

College Insight has gathered detailed information on nearly 5,000 colleges and universities in this country. You can find statistics for any school on such topics as these:

College affordability. Check out statistics on tuition and total cost of attendance, average student debt load and colleges’ use of financial aid and merit scholarships.

College diversity. You’ll find data on the economic breakdown of colleges. Is the school you’re interested in crawling with rich students or is there more of a mix? The site also shares figures on racial and ethnic diversity of students and professors.

Student success. Here’s where you’ll find out about graduation rates, which too many parents and families overlook.

So what makes this college website different from others that I’ve recommended? College Insight allows you to compare a particular school with other colleges anywhere else. It’s nice to be able to size up schools and compare them to others. It’s also a way to add more schools to your potential college list as you run across hidden jewels.

The website is the brain child of  The Institute for College Access & Success, which is a nonprofit organization in Berkeley, CA, that aims to make college more available and affordable.
